GREGG Blundell could return to the Chester City frontline for tomorrow's north-west derby with Bury.

The former Doncaster Rovers striker has missed City's last two games after taking a heavy blow to the head in the 3-2 defeat to Rochdale on October

Fears that Blundell had broken his cheekbone proved unfounded, but he was still forced to take a two-week break from first-team action as a precaution.

Blues boss Keith Curle yesterday revealed Blundell could come into contention for tomorrow's clash with the Shakers.

'This is the first opportunity we'll have to take a proper look at Gregg,' said the City boss ahead of training. 'He's been in doing little bits and pieces, but he has not been on the front line of training so far. We'll step it up a little bit and see how he goes.'

Sean Hessey is likely to line up at full-back tomorrow in place of Carl Regan, who has a hamstring injury.

The former Hull City man hobbled off just before half time in Saturday's 3-1 win at Barnet but is making 'good progress', according to Curle.

Bury have been in good form since Chris Casper took over as caretaker manager following the sacking of Chester legend Graham Barrow last month.

But despite being unbeaten in five League Two games, the Shakers had no answer to Conference side Halifax Town in the LDV Vans Trophy on Tuesday.

Reduced to 10 men after the 15th-minute send-ing-off of keeper Craig Dootson, Bury went on to lose 6-1.

7. nBlues officials held a 'constructive' meeting with Chester City Council on Tuesday.

Items on the agenda included the settlement of the club's overdue rent and transferring the lease agreement on the Saunders Honda Stadium.

City chairman Stephen Vaughan wants one of his own companies to replace AWG Shelf 11 Ltd (formerly Morrisons Plc) as the club's guarantors.

This, he hopes, will enable him to change the terms of the lease and lift some of the 'restrictions' preventing him from maximising the site's revenue potential.

The Blues chairman said he felt 'positive' after the meeting but declined to give a detailed account of what was discussed.

A council statement read: 'We had a constructive meeting with Chester City Football Club and their guarantors and we will meet both parties again soon. We are very hopeful that all outstanding matters can be resolved.'

Vaughan is eager to explore the possibility of staging boxing promotions, concerts and a Sunday market at the club but the current terms of the lease prevent him from doing this. nFans will tomorrow have the chance to win an executive day for two at a future Chester home game.

Raffle tickets costing £1 will be on sale around the ground and the draw will be made at half time.

The executive tickets include a pre-match meal and access to the executive lounge. All proceeds from the draw go to the club.
