NO new arrivals are expected at the Deva Stadium before the January transfer window slams shut.

With the transfer embargo placed on Chester not likely to be lifted any time soon, there will be no incomings before Monday’s deadline. And the club this week insisted that Kevin Ellison and Ryan Lowe – both of whom have attracted bids from rival clubs in the window – would be staying put.

Blues owner Stephen Vaughan said: “We have reviewed our playing resources and agreed that we will persevere with our current squad until the end of the season.

“The only exception may be Eddie Johnson, who is having talks, with our blessing, with Austin Aztecs.

“I can categorically reassure all our supporters that Kevin Ellison and Ryan Lowe will be staying with us, despite interest and financial offers from other clubs recently.”

“Eighty percent of the squad are out of contract in the summer, so it is up to them to impress Mark Wright and try and win extended deals.

“Hopefully this will create stability, not only for the players but also our supporters.”

The club’s ability to deal in the transfer market this season has been hit by a drop in attendances, with home gates averaging a disappointing 1,926 – the third lowest in League Two.
