RAYMOND GANDY has been voted the Standard Chartered Liverpool Fan of the Month for March.

The lifelong Red, who is in his 80s, won the backing of the panel after being nominated by his friend Liam Nevin.

“He has followed Liverpool since he was walking,” Liam said. “He doesn't miss a single game or an opportunity to talk about the club he loves.

“Although a lot of Runcorn has turned to the dark side (United) he has fought on and even at his age he is still proud to wear his red Billy Liddell shirt and tells the best stories of times gone by at Anfield.”

Gandy is the seventh monthly winner and will now join the others in the race to be crowned Standard Chartered Fan of the Season.

REDS legend Ian Rush is hoping Andy Carroll will follow in his footsteps and be a Wembley hero today.

The striker staked an overwhelming claim for a starting spot with his winner at Blackburn on Tuesday.

“It was great to see Andy back on the scoresheet – that will give him a tremendous amount of confidence,” he said. “He put a lot of hard work in and got his rewards.”
