BY most assessments, Joe Cole is a highly likeable person.
A friendly family man who always worked hard and applied himself at Liverpool.
Unfortunately he did not have the ability to match and his move to West Ham United yesterday was best for everyone involved.
Best for Cole, who was never going to force him way into Brendan Rodgers’s plans and best for Liverpool, who have relieved themselves of his hefty wages.
And that is how Cole’s two-and-a-half years at Anfield will be remembered.
As a period of time when Liverpool wasted money.
One pundit claimed this season that Cole could not be judged because of his massive salary and was not to blame for being paid so well. But if you are willing to accept the cash then it must be earned. Cole, nice fella or not, did not represent value for money.
