LIVERPOOL first team coach Mike Marsh knows all about coming back from the brink in a European tie.
Marsh was part of Graeme Souness' Liverpool side who famously overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Auxerre in the second round of the UEFA Cup at Anfield in November 1991.
Jan Molby's early penalty got the hosts off to a flyer and Marsh headed home to restore parity in the tie before Mark Walters clinched a remarkable 3-0 triumph over the French outfit.
It remains the only time Liverpool have ever progressed on the 10 previous occasions they have gone into a second leg trailing by two goals.
Marsh will surely have a few words to say in the dressing room before next Thursday night's reunion with Zenit St Petersburg. The message will be clear – the task maybe sizeable but Marsh knows from experience that it can be accomplished.
