MICHAEL NGOO has already achieved hero status north of the border after a remarkable start to his loan spell with Hearts.

The young Liverpool striker only completed his move to the Scottish club last Friday but 24 hours later was thrown straight into their League Cup semi-final against Inverness.

Ngoo marked his debut in style by volleying home the equaliser and then holding his nerve to net in their penalty shoot-out triumph. The 20-year-old hadn’t even had the chance to get to know all his new team-mates’ names.

“Since then I’ve been enjoying myself getting to know the boys,” he said.

“I’m still buzzing. Saturday was incredible. My biggest game before Inverness was my first England Under-19 game against Slovakia at Crewe.

“I’d never even visited Scotland before I joined Hearts. It’s amazing for me to come up and be in a final already.”

Ngoo is hoping the experience gained from his stint in Scotland will help propel him into Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

He added: “I think Liverpool know what I’m capable of. My objective is to help Hearts and do my best up here.”
