DANIEL STURRIDGE has enjoyed a flying start to his Liverpool career but the £12million new boy has yet to rule the roost at Melwood.

Most training sessions end with the squad divided up into pairs for a shooting competition. However, Sturridge has so far been unable to wrestle the crown from prolific duo Jonjo Shelvey and Jordan Henderson.

“Daniel has done brilliantly so far, but he still hasn’t beaten Hendo and me in the shooting so he needs to work on that,” Shelvey revealed. “It’s something we do with Marshy (Mike Marsh). He pings the ball out, your partner stands on the edge of the 18-yard box, sets it up and you have to finish.

“The first to five goals is the winner. Hendo and me were unbeaten in the whole of 2012. The other pairs tend to change but we stick together.”

Fabio Borini has become the latest Liverpool player to sign up to Twitter and @borinifabio29 has already clocked up 56,000 followers. The best of his offerings this week? “Pizza is a lot like sex. When it's good it's really good, when it's bad it’s still pretty good.”
