LIVERPOOL defender Daniel Agger is threatening to sue bookies Bet24 over the use of his image in a Scandinavian television advert.

The Denmark international is preparing to captain his nation in their Euro 2012 opener against Holland today.

“Bet24 had been in Liverpool and they took video footage of me and our coaches for several seconds, but they wouldn’t admit it,” Agger said.

“If I had just been asked if they could use it, I probably would have said yes but they did not ask and used the footage in the advert without my permission. I think it’s very cheeky and arrogant of a betting firm to use me as an eyecatcher without contacting me first, and that is why I want to sue them.”

Agger will today come up against his former Reds team-mate Dirk Kuyt, who this week completed his move to Fenerbahce. The teams also met in their first game of the 2010 World Cup which the Dutch won 2-0 en route to reaching the final.

Kuyt said: “The World Cup has shown us how important it is to win the first match. We have to do that again.”
