JAY SPEARING is back at Melwood having treatment in a bid to be ready for the prospect of a play-off mission with Bolton Wanderers.

The Liverpool midfielder has enjoyed a fine campaign on loan at the Reebok and on Thursday night was crowned the Trotters’ Player of the Year.

However, Spearing will sit out their final two Championship games after suffering a broken toe.

With him unable to drive, Liverpool and Bolton both agreed for him to report to the medical staff at Melwood.

The cast will stay on for another fortnight but Spearing hopes to be available if Bolton make the play-offs.

Dougie Freedman’s side, who travel to champions Cardiff today and host Blackpool next Saturday, are sixth – in the final play-off spot – but Leicester City and Nottingham Forest are ready to pounce on any slip-up.

Spearing has yet to hold talks with Brendan Rodgers about his Anfield future.
