A DAY of semi-final excitement on Sunday saw both League Cup ties decided by last-minute goals.

Shell Swan converted a late penalty to shade a 4-3 win over Corner Pin, who scored through John Briscoe (2) and Lee Woodworth.

In the other game, Danny Harris struck in the final seconds of extra time to secure a 1-0 win for Boughton over Dee Miller and book their final clash with Shell Swan.

In the league, Section A leaders Lache Athletic continued their title drive with a 4-0 win against Watergate courtesy of a Chris Donnelly hat-trick and some sharp finishing from Joey Waters.

Lee Bennion and Andy Bale were on the scoresheet but it was not enough as St Theresa's lost 3-2 to Vicars Cross Dynamos.

The only match in Section B saw Upton YC post a 3-0 win over Stanley Arms, with Mike Garrod (2) and Dave Owen ensuring Stanley remain in danger of relegation.

Bull's Head charged ahead in Section C as Gavin Smith and George Donachie scored to give the top side a 2-1 victory against Red Lion in the Frodsham derby.

MBNA's title hopes went bankrupt as they lost 4-2 at Bache. Despite goals from Craig Jones and Ben Irwin, Bache won with Stuart Williams (2), Simon Law and Dalat Gulzar finding the net to move Bache into second spot.

The main contenders in the race for the top, however, are Royal Oak due to their games in hand. They moved into third after crushing Tattenhall 7-3. Doubles from Danny Radford, David Close and Craig Richardson were topped off with a Nathan Mapletoft strike.

Bromfield Arms' Steve Kirkness (2), Steve Wordsworth, Paul Nelson and Liam Durkin were on target as they defeated bottom club Pace Telecom 5-0.
