IN horrendous conditions Blues turned in a fine display in the NWCFL Division Two Trophy 1st Round replay on Wednesday.

The League's player of the month Les Miranda chased what looked to be a lost cause in the fifth minute and managed to put in a terrific cross for Dave Hanlon to convert.

United pressed for a second goal and scored it - but at the wrong end.

Iain Stanton's attempted clearance loped over goalkeeper Danny Morton into his own net, but Hanlon restored their lead amid a goalmouth scramble on 36 minutes.

Leek equalised again a minute into the second half when Jake Johnson broke clear and lashed home a fine shot from fully 30 yards.

Not to be outdone, Danny Jarrett restored the lead on 61 minutes. A corner was cleared only as far as the defender, standing 30 yards out from goal, and his shot found the top corner before visiting keeper Gavin Deaville had time to react.

Winsford were in full control now and an inevitable fourth came when Chris Melia was hauled down and Hanlon completed his hat-trick and 14th goal of the season from the penalty spot.

Melia's diving header from Rob Hopley's cross wrapped up the scoring in the final minute.

United: Morton; Porter (Melia 62), Brocklehurst, Aston, Stanton; Topping, Jarrett, Duck-worth, Hanlon; Baker (Tasker 80).
