COORS Mid-Cheshire League club Barnton, who had been expecting to represent Cheshire against Northumberland in the Northern Counties championship on Saturday, had their first round game in the north east called off due to an unfit pitch.

The game has been rear-ranged for December 11 further plunging Barnton's fixture backlog into chaos following their recent UEFA Regions Cup exploits in Bosnia.

Barnton return to the Town Field on Saturday to host Christleton in a delayed third round tie in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup.

Only one other Mid-Cheshire League club have survived in the Cheshire Amateur Cup, Styal forcing a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

First Division leaders Middlewich Town suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to West-Cheshire League side Capenhurst Villa, with Ryan Broadhead scoring Town's goal.

In the First Division, Crosfields re-established their title challenge by moving up to second place with an impressive 1-0 against Warrington neighbours Daten, Alan Davison grabbing their goal. Witton Albion reserves beat Club AZ 2-0.
