AVON were undone by battling Albion in Warrington & District League Division One.
The game began evenly enough but Avon's Farrell cleared the bar from a good position.
Albion gave as good as they got and on the half-hour mark, Simon Worthington caught the Avon defence napping by running in to score.
Avon were unlucky not to equalise just before half-time when they were foiled by a good save.
The second half saw Albion gain in confidence and they began to produce lots of openings.
The visitors were awarded a penalty after a sliding tackle from Forrest.
Dave Sharkey sent the keeper the wrong way.
With 20 minutes still to play Avon tried in vain to get a goal back.
Albion keeper Ben Houghton produced some fine stops and commanded his area well.
Runcorn Albion deserved the result that moves them away from the bottom of the division.
Meanwhile Avon drop to third on account of victory for Rainhill.
Avon's second-team game was called off.
This Saturday Avon 1st visit Green-all SO in the league (ko 2.30pm) while the second team has no game. All players should meet at 12.45pm.
In the evening, Avon will be holding a race night at Widnes Recreation Club, Liverpool Road. This will take place after the Tri-Nations Rugby League final.
