WITTON Albion have signed young Crewe Alex winger Shaun Miller on a month's loan.

Albion boss Jim Vince made quick use of the club's strong links with Gresty Road when Mark Peers was injured seven minutes into the Winsford United game in midweek.

Peers has damaged his medial ligaments but Albion have no idea yet how long he will be out.

Albion have done well all season with two wingers so Vince made the plea to Crewe and Miller made an impressive debut in their FA Trophy victory over Woodley Sports.

Their reward is a home tie in the second round on January 13 against former Football League outfit Rush-den and Diamonds, now fighting relegation in the Conference.

Albion home fans' first chance to see Miller is on Boxing Day when Leek Town are visitors to Wincham Park.

Leek may be bottom of the UniBond Premier Division but still carry a potent threat and recently scored five goals in the first 19 minutes at North Ferriby.

Peers, scorer of 11 goals so far, may well be sidelined well into the New Year but Witton saw long-term injury victims Mark Jones and Liam McGuire both come through the Winsford game unscathed.

Both are central midfielders where Albion already have Steve Connors, Alex Brown and Rob Lloyd, while Adam Foy, also recovering from injury, is on the fringes.

There is still a month to run on Lloyd's loan from Crewe and it is possible Albion could extend his stay until the end of the season.

Albion have no game on Saturday and they follow the Leek game with a trip to Fleetwood Town on December 30.
