CREWE Alex midfielder Lee Bell was the guest of honour as Alsager Town's under 18 side celebrated their CMYL Premier Division Championship success.

The former Alsager Celtic player was on hand to present the youngsters with their trophies at a presentation evening at the Bleeding Wolf pub in Scholar Green.

The championship-winning squad lost just three games all season, and were six points clear of their nearest rivals, Leek Town and Nantwich Town.

Tom Farr, with 16 goals, was the team's top scorer and defender Joe Smith capped an outstanding first season at youth level when he was voted the players' player of the year.

The manager's player of the year award went to midfielder Josh Jones, while skip-per Adrian McGarry retained his league players merit table award. James Horne won the cup award and Aaron Rigby scooped the parents' player of the year trophy.

A club spokesman said: 'The team would like to pay thanks to their main sponsor, Brian Mottram of Lawton Coach and Service Station of Church Lawton, who once again kindly supported us throughout the season.'
