WITTON Albion have signed a defender with more than 500 league games under his belt.

Tony Barras, who has played for nine league clubs including Stockport County, York, Walsall and Notts County, joins from Macclesfield Town.

Albion boss Jim VInce said: 'He will bring experience and a desire to win - he can win trophies with Witton. You don't get 500 league games in your back pocket unless you are a winner.

'He will give us a bit more leadership - I am a true believer that you don't have one captain on the pitch, you have 11.'

Two new faces, another defender and a midfielder, were due to sign terms last night.

Albion start their Unibond campaign away at North Ferriby United. Vince said: 'They will be one of the sides up their challenging for promotion, so I won't have to say much to get my players up for that one.'
