AIRBUS UK get their summer schedule under way with the visit of Vauxhall Motors to the Airfield on Tuesday (7pm).
Player-manager Gareth Owen will make use of a large squad for the meeting with the Conference (North) side, and will include new signings Steve Hughes, who was part of the Wingmakers squad that survived their first season in the top-flight in 2004-05 before leaving for Buckley Town, Stuart Webber, who works for Wrexham FC at their Colliers Park training ground, and Chester-born Ryan Maloney, a striker who has been on the books of Bury.
Owen said: 'There will be about 15 to 20 lads involved against Vauxhall, and it should be a good game. It will be a good chance to see how some of the new lads who have been training with us fit in.' Airbus have added dates at Holywell (August 5), Bala (August 8) and Llandyrnog (August 12) to their friendly-list.
Meanwhile, Owen's men have been drawn alongside neighbours Connah's Quay Nomads, NEWI Cefn Druids and holders The New Saints in Group B in the new-look Loosemores Challenge Cup.
This year marks the return of the group format last used in 2001-02, where group winners and runners-up proceed to a straight knock-out quarter-final stage. Semi-finals will be played over two legs, with the one-leg final staged at a neutral venue.
The Broughton side's group games are: Wednesday, August 23 - Airbus v Nomads; Tuesday, August 29 - Druids v Airbus; Tuesday, September 12 - TNS v Airbus; Wednesday, September 27 - Airbus v TNS; Tuesday, October 3 - Nomads v Airbus; Wednesday, October 18 - Airbus v Druids.
