A Chester football club has struck a sponsorship deal with a city coffee shop.

Deva Athletic FC, formerly known as Chester Teachers FC, have joined forces with former teacher Jez Scott who now manages and runs the Cinderbox Coffee shop in Chester. The financial support means that the team can fund new equipment, kits and training gear.

The team have already kicked off the season in style winning each of their four games and are the only Chester and District Football League One side to take maximum points from all their games so far.

The Chester based club have won an incredible 20 games in a row which is the longest winning streak in the club’s short history.

Since the team began two years ago, they have won the league and finished runners up last season gaining back-to-back promotions to Division One. As they seek their third promotion in a row, the club formerly known as Chester Teachers FC face their toughest challenge yet in an incredibly strong league this year.

The club, who still have 10 teachers amongst the squad are organised by local deputy headteacher Chris Timms. “We set up Deva as a team of teachers two years ago for a bit of fun and we have enjoyed every minute of it! We are fortunate enough to be part of an excellent footballing set up in Chester and have some generous sponsors in our community like Jez. Without them, we would not be able to do what we do!”

Sponsor Jez Scott said “As an independent coffee shop in the heart of Chester, it is a pleasure to support local talented sports teams. The team are regulars at Cinderbox and we like to think of it as their ‘second clubhouse’! Our sponsorship aims to ensure they can afford to continue their development.”
