Neil Young has added midfielders Charlie Anderson and Jamie Menagh to his Chester FC squad after agreeing non-contract terms with the pair.

Anderson, 22, is the son of former England and Manchester United defender Viv Anderson and joins the Blues from Northern Premier League Division One North side Mossley, where he had scored five goals in 15 appearances.

He started his career with Macclesfield Town and has also had spells with FC United of Manchester, Ashton United and Flixton. Anderson's impressive form this season had attracted the attention of a number of clubs.

Neil Young has been monitoring the 6' 4" midfielder or defender for a number of weeks and decided to make his move after watching him in action against Clitheroe on Tuesday evening.

Liverpool-based midfielder Jamie Menagh, 19, has also been added to the squad. Previously on the books of Blackpool and Stoke City, Menagh was on trial with the Blues during pre-season and featured in the 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

He can play in central midfield or on the left hand side and joins from Northern Premier League Division One North outfit Prescot Cables.

Anderson and Menagh signed for the Blues on Thursday evening, concluding a busy day of transfer activity at the Deva Stadium as Neil Young also signed right winger Chris Lester and striker Conor Wilkinson on loan from Championship club Bolton.

Wilkinson, 18, is a 6' 3" centre forward who joined Bolton from Millwall for an undisclosed fee in the summer while Lester, 19, has been on the fringes of the first team at the Reebok Stadium.

Both players have moved to the Deva Stadium on initial one-month loan deals and Neil Young has confirmed the pair will feature in the squad for tomorrow's game against second-bottom Aldershot Town, who had 10 points deduced for being

Right winger Chris Lester and 6' 3" centre forward Conor Wilkinson have moved to the Deva Stadium on initial one-month loan deals.

Blues boss Neil Young has moved to freshen up his attacking options after watching his side score just once in five games.

He had hoped to sign a third player on loan from the Trotters but that deal would now appear to have been put on hold.

But he has offered non-contract terms to a young midfielder and hopes to wrap up that move shortly.

Wilkinson, who joined Bolton in the summer for an undisclosed fee from Millwall, attracted the attention of Portuguese giants Benfica last season and is a Republic of Ireland youth international.

The 18-year-old scored four times as Wanderers' development team beat Blackpool 7-2 in the Lancashire Senior Cup on October 22.

Lester, 19, also scored in that game and was called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad on the back of his impressive club form.

Both players will be in the squad for the clash with Aldershot Town on Saturday and will be available for the FA Trophy game at the end of November.

Neil Young said: "We've been speaking to Bolton about having the lads come to Chester and am now delighted to finalise their loan signings.

"They will both go into the squad for Saturday's game against Aldershot and will be available for selection for the FA Trophy too next month.

"Conor is a big striker who has certainly made an impact recently and comes to us in great form, so naturally we're delighted to have him here, whilst Chris is also a great addition for us, and will make our midfield stronger."
