CASTROL under 15s were held to a draw when they hosted old friends Moorfield from Widnes.

An early morning pitch inspection allowed the game to go ahead and skipper Hickey asked the visitors to bat.

Eager (1-25) got rid of Whitfield with his first ball and when Hickey (1-15) bowled Whalley, Moorfield were reeling at 7-2.

Buck (15) and the hard-hitting Sumner (31) revived their fortunes, but Hyndman's 4-28, which included an acrobatic catch from Garratt, and an amazing 3-1 from Middleton, restricted Moorfield to 105-9.

After a disastrous start where they lost two wickets, Castrol's Middleton (12) and Garratt (31no) stabilised the innings, but a slow run rate meant they settled for a draw, ending the day on 76-6.

U15s training takes place on Thursdays (6.30pm-8.30pm) at Castrol Sports and Social Club. Anyone interested in playing can go along.

* In senior cricket, both Ellesmere Port and Castrol saw their matches on Saturday washed out without a ball

being bowled. Both sides will be hoping for better weather this weekend. Port host Disley and the Oilmen are at home to Wir ral.
