MOORFIELD travelled to Old Xaverians hoping to continue their winning streak.
Skipper Ste Dean won the toss and elected to open the batting with John Eccleshall, it became apparent that their run had come to an end when Dean (4) was dismissed in the first over by a great catch to Paddy O'Hanlon at gully. This proved to be the first of ten catches held by Xavs.
Eccleshall (13) was out to a contentious decision early in the third over, caught behind.
Mike Harrison (13) and Mark Brick (19) struggled to give the innings some momentum, the only batsman reaching beyond the teens was Danny Magee with a creditable 24.
Moorfield were all out for 108. With Xavs opener Joydeep Ganguly (4) chipping one back to bowler Neil Maher in the second over, it looked as though it was game on, but then Kev Heywood (61*) built a partnership with Danny Jones (12) and when Mark Greason ran out Jones with the score on 53, the home sides slow but precise approach was proving to be Moorfield's downfall. They finished the game with 8 wickets still intact.
Old Xaverians 25pts Moorfield 3pts.
