A STUNNING all-round display from Tanvir Ahmed proved Weston's undoing in their J Whitfield and Sons North Staffs and District League Senior A match at leaders Newcastle and Hartshill.

Ahmed took 6-53 as Weston rattled up a competitive 218-9, built on solid innings from Simon Barratt (78), Syed Saad Wasim (61) and Sayed Khan (52).

Ahmed then hit an unbeaten 124 and with Adrian Hicken undefeated on 42, Newcastle reached 219-4.

In the Meller Braggins Cheshire League, Holmes Chapel defeated Wirral by 29 runs.

Holmes hit 212-6 declared before dismissing their visitors for 183 to collect 25 points.

Cholmondeley had the better of their draw at Winsford, restricting the hosts to 171-4 after posting 210-9 in their innings. The result saw Cholmondeley pick up 12 points.
