SYED Saad Wasim cracked a fantastic century as Weston cruised to an impressive victory over Blythe.

The Pakistani batsman and off-spin bowler scored exactly 100 as his side comfortably knocked off the necessary runs to overcome the 200 target set by the visitors, in the North Staffs and District League Senior A.

Skipper Paul Newnes returned 3-36 after Blythe batted first. Mark Chester (36) was the main support for Wasim as he fired his side to victory.

In the Meller Braggins League Division Two, Holmes Chapel found the going tough against Barnton. Batting first, they were all out for a miserly 98. The visitors eased their way to 100 for the loss of just three wickets.

Meanwhile, Cholmondeley felt they were in a strong position when they declared at 206-8. But Winsford had other ideas and won the match with 207-7.

Cholmondeley seconds took their first win of the season with a patient display against St George's Stockport.

The visitors batted first and Danny Morris struck in the second over to take out a Stockport opener. Wickets fell regularly and the innings ended on 125-9, Phil Evans returned 4-33.

In reply, Cholmondeley started steadily but lost opener Phil Evans for two. Ian Walton scored 28 before the pace was picked up by skipper Mal Holman, who hit 38 before being bowled with just 17 runs needed for victory. Jonathan Maginess (27no) batted patiently and hit the winning runs, ending on 129-4.
