WISTASTON Village lost ground in the Division One title race, losing by 29 runs to Hartford at the Brittles on Saturday.
Batting first, Hartford were restricted to 162-7 by the Wistaston bowlers. Both from 10 overs, James Hogben (1-24) and Chris Townsend (2-24) were the pick of the home side's bowlers.
They were supported by Chris Trahair (2-37) and Julian Cotton (2-45). Top scoring for Hartford were G Sharpe (37) and R Whittle (29).
Replying, Wistaston lost half their side for 47 runs, before Hogben posted 39, including four fours and three sixes and Dean Titus hit 30 including five fours which produced a sixth wicket part-nership of 57 to give respectability to the score.
Then a lower-order collapse ensued with the last four wickets producing just 29 runs, leaving the home side 133 all out and 30 runs short of victory.
Elsewhere in Division One, Sandbach are third from the bottom after a draw with Radbroke Hall. At home, Sandbach hit 194-8 to the visitors' 129-9.
Fourth-placed Bunbury slipped up against Kingsley who won, batting second, by six wickets. Bunbury had posted 148-10 off 48 overs but Kingsley hit back with a vengeance with 149-4 off 39 overs.
In Division Two, bottom side Audlem secured an eight wicket victory after batting second at Grange. The home side finished 193-7 before Audlem posted 194-2.
