OVERSEAS star James de Terte announced his arrival to the Dabbers with a stunning batting display which helped the club notch their first win of the season at Widnes.

The 22-year-old, from New Zealand, showed his true colours as he hammered his way to an impressive 116 not out, as Nantwich took a six-wicket victory with four balls to spare.

Widnes won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 246-6 from 53 overs with C Parkes (81) S Moore (46) and J McCoy (40) proving tough to remove. Chris Hampshire bowled 16 overs and returned 2-44, while Craig Mackeller (2-49) also looked in decent form. Spin-ners Andy Wilgoose and Olly Sadler picked up a wicket apiece, but the hosts' target of 247 looked daunting.

It looked even more difficult when opener Sadler (7) was bowled out early on by D Dyson. However, a determined stand was put together by Hampshire (42) and de Terte took the score to 98 to put their side in touch.

Once Hampshire was ousted by Dyson, Maynard came in at number four and his handy knock of 54 was vital, before he was caught out with the score on 207. It was left to Ray Doyle to hit the winning runs.

Nantwich's second team had to settle for a draw with Widnes. Batting first, they declared at 190-7 after 40 runs apiece from K Kellett and L Prince, while C Simpson weighed in with 30.

The visitors' first five batsmen were out for just 22 runs, but R Evans (52no) and K Dyson (38no) steadied the ship and earned a share of the spoils.

Nantwich thirds had a four-wickets win over Didsbury on Sunday. Dids-bury elected to bat, scoring 134ao with Ian Forster returning 5-11. The Dabbers scored 135-6. Phil McKeown (30), Ben Mogg (30no) and Chris McK-eown (25) took their side to victory.

Alsager chalked up their second win in Division One when their last pair spoiled Macclesfield's day. Aussie Stuart Brohaska top-scored with 55 for Macc, who also had Jason Knight (46) to thank for a useful tally of 184-9 in just 42 overs.

Alsager were up for it and with 61 from university student Tom Smalley and 57 by stand-in skipper Ashwin Punja, Phil Cotterill (31no) knocked off the runs, taking them to 187-9, as number 11 Mark French held firm.
