ELWORTH CC is to hold a festival of Cheshire junior cricket during the next week.

The club's London Road headquarters will stage four representative matches, beginning with tomorrow's 50-overs-per-side U16s clash between Cheshire and Worcestershire in the Lords Taverners competition (1pm).

Elworth vice-chairman Mike Hasprey said: 'We are delighted to have been asked to stage these games. We are hoping for good weather and hope to see as many people as possible coming along to see the best of junior cricket in the county.'

On Sunday, Cheshire U14s take on Nottinghamshire (1pm) in another 50-overs match.

Next Tuesday will see Cheshire U13s take on Staffordshire in the ECB Timed Competition with a maximum of 97 overs bowled in the day, play starting at 11.30am.

The series of matches concludes next Wednesday when Cheshire take on Staffordshire in an U10s fixture of 40 overs per side (1pm).

Elworth will be well represented in the matches.

Russell Ballard (U14s), Ben Morgan, Chris Winter (U13s), Matthew Winter and George Barratt (U10s) will all be in action for Cheshire.

Other Elworth players involved in county squads are U12s players Chris Connolly and Tom Bamford, who represent Cheshire and Staffordshire respectively, while Kieran Allsop and Will Hodges from Elworth are also members of the Cheshire Development Squad.

Last week, Elworth duo Steve Morgan (Cheshire) and Jack Bamford (Staffordshire) played against each other in an U11s match at Northwich.
