SAUGHALL kept their Cheshire Alliance Division Two promotion hopes alive with a commanding victory in their home match against Norbury.

The win was a massive step to promotion, and another against Knutsford next week would set the Chester side up for a final day showdown with Glazebury.

An 80-run second-wicket partnership set the trend for the Saughall innings, which featured good knocks from Chirs Andrews (34) and James Martin (43).

But it was James Huxley (70) who formed the backbone of the innings as he played with his typical flamboyancy.

A flurry of wickets saw Saughall stuttering on 167-8, but they eventually mustered a total of 193.

After a confident start from Nurbury, three wickets in nine balls from Mandeep Singh (3-49) put Saughall in command.

A decisive spell of spin from Chris Andrews (4-17) saw them collapse to 116 all out.

In Division One, FRODSHAM (170-3) won by seven wickets at Appleton (167-9).
