SAUGHALL won a nail-biting Division Two encounter in the final over against Ellesmere Port on Saturday to continue their excellent run of form.

At one point it looked like a score of below 100 was on the cards, but some impressive hitting saw Port recover to post 177-9 (Dipak Jena 5-69) off their 48 overs.

In reply, James Huxley (31) and Mike Andrews (32) lifted Saughall to a nervy 113-5. The hosts progressed until they reached the point where five runs were needed from the final over with two new batsmen at the crease.

Andy Thomas (5no) was the coolest man on the park, calmly hitting the winning runs from the penultimate ball to take Saughall to a winning 178-7.

In Division One, FRODSHAM lost by 10 wickets at Offerton. The struggling visitors scored 150 and, after tea, Offerton had little difficulty in knocking off 151-0.

In Division Three, CAPENHURST claimed a four-wicket success over Offerton 2nds, who were all out for 151 (M Samson 5-9). In reply, Cape scored 152-6 (K Narine 41, N Tilby 31).
