Saughall put the previous week’s defeat behind them to record a comfortable Cheshire Alliance Division One win over Old Parkonians on Saturday.
The visitors elected to bat after winning the toss and they raced out of the blocks, reaching 34 off just five overs.
The hosts feared the worst but paceman Mandeep Singh then embarked on a majestic spell of bowling, reducing Old Parks to 56-3.
Wickets continued to fall and by the time 30 overs had been bowled Singh had figures of 4-15.
Chris Andrews (5-64) claimed his third five-wicket haul of the season as Old Parks were all out for 144.
Saughall’s reply got off to a false start as an early wicket gave the Wirral side hope. But Martin Huxley (25) and Adam Griffiths (54) looked in fine form as they found the boundary with ease.
It was left to skipper Ben Salisbury to see his side home. His lethal combination of power and finesse saw him finish with an unbeaten 28 and it was he who smashed the winning runs with a boundary.
The skipper said: “"It was a great team effort. We showed great character to come back from last week and then from losing the toss on a good wicket.”
In Division Two, FRODSHAM fell to a home loss to Audlem. The visitors were all out for 131 (Matt Deakin 5-19) but they managed to defend their modest total, bowling Frodsham out for just 80. In Division Three, there were few scares for WESTMINSTER PARK (48-2) as they cruised to victory at Rostherne (47ao).
In the Cheshire Women’s League, Chester Boughton Hall (234-3) returned to the top of the table with a dominant performance against Romiley & Dinting (100-7). Ali Cutler’s 137no – made in 108 deliveries with 24 fours – broke Emma Barlow’s previous record for the highest first division score. Unbeaten Oakmere moved up the table after seeing off Stockport Trinity.
