RUNCORN fell victim to the weather in Meller Braggins Cheshire League Division One - their game at Mere being rained off.

But the club's Under 13s made progress in the cup by beating Weaverham by 22 runs.

Batting first, Runcorn made 85-3 thanks to Ryan Beech (27), Colin Wright (24) and Matthew Drury (15no).

In reply, Runcorn dismissed their opponents for 63 (Beech 2-8, Jack Hulligan 3-9 and Wright 1-16).

Runcorn U15s were defeated by Stretton in their season opener, despite limiting their opponents to 97-9 (25 overs).

Martin McGloughlin took 2-12 off five.

The Moughland Lane team never looked like reaching their target, despite a spirited 22 by Tom Wright, and closed on 55-7. nKingsley 1st bagged their first win of the season in Cheshire Cricket Alliance's Division One with a solid performance at picturesque Bunbury.

A seven-wickets success propels Kingsley out of the relegation zone.

All six Kingsley bowlers took a wicket, but veteran seamer Alderman (2-7 from 10 overs), Burden (3-36) and Jonny Ollier (2-22) excelled as Bunbury were skittled for 101 in the cold.

In reply, opener John Elliott carried his bat for a resolute 37no - swashbuckling Kieron Ollier (32) the perfect foil. nFrodsham lead the Alliance's Division Two despite being held to a home draw by Appleton.
