ELLESMERE Port's bowlers have made history for the second time this season after they skittled Kingsley for just 48 runs on Saturday on their way to victory.

The success follows another spectacular display against Chelford on May 7 when Port dismissed their opponents for 33.

Port skipper Phil Ashton said: 'Kingsley are an old club who have been playing Cheshire cricket for many years and this was their lowest ever total. Our team spirit has been tremendous since we had a real heart-to-heart after a big defeat a few weeks ago and the lads have responded well.

'It was an unbelievable display and we were like men possessed. Nick Brimble made a catch that was as good as any I've ever seen. I had him positioned close in to the batsman and the ball was driven very straight. It was like a rocket but Nick managed to hold on to it about an inch off the ground.'

Port won the toss and batted first but after a bright start, making 72-1 with only Brimble (6) bowled by Burden (3-55), they collapsed losing five wickets for just four runs. Dom Green (33) was caught by Hatt off Burden while Ashton fell to Alderman (3-51).

A catch by M Ollier off Burden saw off Isaacs (4) while Alderman took Sayers and Betteridge for golden ducks, the former via a catch from Leneghan.

However, Port put on a 60-run seventh wicket partnership as Colin Roberts (20no) and Craig Rawson (26no) held out to scramble 136-6 off their allotted 48 overs.

Port's bowlers wasted no time with their reply as Ashton caught Butcher (2) off Isaacs (4-13) and Leneghan (0) off Betteridge (5-24).

More catches followed with J Ollier (4) and M Ollier (6) both snapped up by Brimble off Isaacs and Betterdige while Rowlands held on to take Radley (0).

A diamond of a delivery from Isaacs ripped out the stumps of Hatt (5) while he also took Trenell of a duck.

Elliott (12) was caught by Brimble off Betteridge, Hendry (1) fell to Brimble (1-6) and Betteridge closed proceedings in the 30th over to bowl Alderman (4) via a Sayers catch.

Kingsley took 3 points, Ellesmere Port 25.
