ANOTHER almost blank cricketing Saturday has left Winnington Park on the verge of relegation from the CD Bramall County League First Division.

Mathematically Winnington can survive, but there would have to be some extraordinary results in the final two weeks of the season for them to avoid starting the 2007 season in the second division.

They have to make up a 32-point deficit, but play champions-elect Chester Boughton Hall and third-placed Poynton.

The postponements edged Oulton Park nearer retaining the Premier Division title.

Middlewich are one of four teams separated by only 10 points at the foot of Division Two.

Davenham needed to play if they were to make up ground on Hale Barn and it seems two washouts in the past three weeks will keep them in the Meller Braggins Cheshire League another season.

Weaverham are a week closer to the drop from Division One and the Second Division promotion race is getting tense.

Committeeman Keith Buckley said: 'It looks like Ashton-on-Mersey are up and it's one from three - Ashley, Pott Shrigley and us - to go with them.'

Northwich remain one of four teams chasing the spare promotion spot in Division Two and they are so close, the rain made little difference.

Oakmere managed to stage the only cricket action involving a Mid Cheshire side when their 2nds kept their hopes of avoiding relegation flickering.

The game against Alderley Park was reduced to 34 overs a side and Oakmere made a positive start with Saeed Kara (24) and Peter Hutchinson making an opening stand of 60.

Hutchinson went on to make an unbeaten 80 and share a partnership of 103 in 12 overs with Chris Webb (54no).

Oakmere declared at 178-2, but could not bowl out Alder-ley who finished on 116-8 (Mike Cushion 3-14, Andy Norton 3-49, Jameel Kara 2-17).
