Martyn East (87n.o.) hit a flourishing six to win the game after Paul Alcock (28) and Andy Gerrard (41) - both lbw - had made a solid start. East was later joined by supportive skipper John O'Sullivan (21n.o.)

Northwich 2nds claimed a last-ball victory at home to Prestbury 2nds thanks to the efforts of 16-year-old Lee Evans.

He hit an unbeaten 83 and took 4-12 with his off-spin, including two wickets in the final over.

Northwich made 230-4 dec (Ant Shaw 80, James Hodgkinson 23, Nigel Goolding 21) and bowled Prestbury out for 183, but the early declaration proved important as the game went to the 50th over. Goolding took 3-32, paving the way for a dramatic finish.

Dave Murphy took 5-40, Miles Watson 2-14 and Stuart Plant 2-12 as Northwich 3rds whipped through Appleton 3rds, 92ao, in the Cheshire Alliance Division Five.

Northwich hit 94-5 (Danny Ward 45) after being 17-3.

Northwich won their Cheshire U21s Lovelane Cup second round tie at Romiley by three wickets.

Romiley were reduced from 135-1 to 181ao (Lee Evans 5-13), Northwich scoring 182-7 (Nigel Goolding 42, Toby Hopkinson 31, Paul Alcock 26).
