CASTROL managed to beat the wet weather on Saturday as their game at home to Radbroke Hall went ahead with the Oilmen having the better of a draw in reduced overs.

Captain Mark Evans said: 'It was an invaluable 14 points as most teams won't have played this weekend.'

Castrol's groundstaff had applied the pitch covers the previous evening and play was able to get under way an hour late with seven overs lost by each team.

Radbroke's skipper won the toss and surprisingly asked Castrol to bat, with Evans (20) and Steve Flanagan (19) in little trouble before the latter was bowled by M Atef (1-40).

Martin Flanagan joined the skipper and the pair had moved on to 71 before Evans fell to spinner Bhardwh (2-38).

An out-of-sorts Green (0) was bowled by Sinha (2-28), King (9) and Garvey also fell to Sinha.

Castrol slumped from 71-1 to 88-5, but M Flanagan and Garratt changed the out-look, smashing towards the boundary on a regular basis, including a hat-trick of sixes, adding 89 in 11 overs.

MoM Flanagan finished on 89no with Garratt 29no as Castrol declared on 177 at the end of the 40th over, leaving Radbroke with 36 overs to chase.

Although Forsyth (51) was dropped third ball, Walters (5-49) soon bowled Christison (6).

Sinha (20) and Forsyth added 57 in quick time before the former went lbw to Garvey (1-23), who made an immediate impact.

The Walters brothers then dismissed Forsyth with Andy catching from Damian's bowling, but Radbroke continued from then on at a snail's pace to try and play out their overs.

When Aldcroft (1-21) bowled Reynolds (7), Castrol sniffed victory and Walters was reintroduced, bowling

Austin (1) while Evans caught Ahmed (0) off his bowling at mid-off.

Roberts (3) went as Walters completed his third five-wicket haul of the season but Rauf (24no) and Bhardwh (0no) saw the visitors through for a share of the spoils, finishing on 128-7.

Castrol took 14 points and Radbroke Hall 5.

Ellesmere Port's home game with Chelford was called off due to the weather and both teams collect five points each.

Castrol are at home to Sandbach and Ellesmere Port away to Radbroke Hall in the league on Saturday.

Sunday sees Knockout Cup action with Castrol at Disley and Port hosting Chelford.
