CASTROL'S U15s got their first win on Sunday against Moorfield, thanks to some excellent teamwork.
Fielding first, the young Oilmen restricted the visitors to 113-5 with Ricky Davies (0-26) and Nathan Evans (1-19) bowling a tidy first 10 overs, with the latter removing Buck (23) thanks to a good catch at mid-on by Andy Smith.
Byron Ward (0-24) bowled tight from the Strawberry end but it was Rob Price (3-18) who did the damage, backed up by some excellent fielding from Dave Noon and Callum Eager.
Anthony Trevivian (1-11) and Thomas Garratt (0-10), aided by some sound wicket keeping from Lee Pearson, made sure Moorfield didn't open their shoulders in the last five overs by bowling a tight line and length.
In reply, Byron Ward (50) and Thomas Garratt opened the innings. But things didn't start well with the latter trying to fend off a short ball only to see it fall straight into the hands of a fielder at mid-wicket.
Anthony Trevivian (9) joined Ward with a couple of lusty blows seeing the score move on to 30-1, before his stay came to an end when he top-edged to the gully.
Dale Cook (39no) came in and the fun got started with him taking advantage of a close ring of fielders to strike six boundaries.
Ward continued to nudge singles and a few boundaries to keep the strike rotating, reaching his second 50 in three games by taking a single to midon.
Ricky Davies (3no) replaced the retired Ward and hit three singles to take Castrol one run away from victory, but it was Cook who deservedly hit the winning run through mid wicket, to post 114-3.
