WINSFORD have announced a sponsorship deal with Ford dealers Cliff Dickenson and Son which, together with similar backing from the Government's Sportsmatch scheme, will enable them to set up a cricketing nursery at Knight's Grange.

Chairman Andy Cooper said: 'It is great news. It's wonderful our efforts in the community, especially with the young, are being recognised and extra special that our new sponsors are supporting us in taking it to the next level.'

Chris Winward of Cliff Dickenson and Son said: 'We are delighted to be involved with Winsford. Local sports activities are definitely a priority with the ethos of our business in the community.'

Winsford Cricket Club has been recognised by their governing body, the ECB, as a focus status club which sits alongside its 'Clubmark' registration.

Recently the ECB placed a community coach at Winsford to go in to junior schools and provide the link with the club, hence the need for the Dickenson backed nursery. The total £2,000 sponsorship will be spent on junior coaching.
