MOORFIELD picked up a win and a draw over the holiday weekend.

They had a 25-3 points victory at Prescot on Saturday but were frustrated by Monday's rain at home to Birkenhead.

Heywood (45) got put-in Moorfield off to a good start at Prescot and John Eccleshall's unbeaten century enabled a declaration at 201-6.

Dean (7-24) and Maher bowled well as Prescot were skittled for 64ao.

After also losing the toss against Birkenhead (six points), Moorfield hit 209-9 (Danny Magee 47,Brick 31).

Birkenhead were 55-2 when rain came, Ste Dean picking up both wickets for Moorfield (11pts).

Moorfield 2nd XI clinched their first campaign win, despite Prescot making 227-7.

Dave Sefton and John Dempsey each picked up a brace of wickets but Prescot's Sean Yeates hit a ton.

In reply, Al Aspey (38), Andy Paton and Dave Sefton (both 27) set up a grandstand finish and Liam Brophy (33no) enabled a one-wicket victory.

At Birkenhead on Monday, Brophy took three wickets while Joe Bamber and Lorna Thomas each claimed two as Birkenhead were dismissed for 195.

Moorfield reached a rain-hit 135-6 (Ste Buck 36, Mark Tansey 28 and Andy Paton 43no).

Saturday sees the firsts travel to Charnock Richard with the seconds hosting the same opposition.

* Dave Brick's three wickets and Rob Magee's 81 runs conjured up a six-wicket Sunday friendly win for a Moorfield XI over Oldfield.

* Moorfield U15s scored a seven-wicket first-round cup win at Lymm OP where Dave Meadows (4-6), Danny Clegg (2-8) and Josh Coghlan (2-7) helped to dismiss the hosts for 29.

Liam Loftus (15) saw Moor-field comfortably through.
