MOORFIELD found it tough at Skelmersdale in their first away match since going up to Merseyside & Southport Alliance Division One.

They were well beaten by a side who just missed promotion in 2006.

Skelmersdale (25pts) won the toss and batted on the flat pitch.

Mark Greason took 3-45 off ten overs as Skem declared on 209-6.

Moorfield (10pts) had Mark Brick making 28 and Rob Yearsley 23 but crashed to 126ao.

Moorfield 2nds suffered a 25pts-11 defeat to Skelmersdale 2nds.

Put in to bat, Rob Morris (34) and Mark Tansey (10) started well.

Danny Magee top scored with 46 in their total of 176ao.

Skelmersdale were grateful to contentious lbw decisions.

The visitors lost three wickets for 53 but regrouped at the interval and reached the target with six down.

Drane and Prendergast picked up two wickets each.

Moorfield's Sunday XI chalked up an eight-wicket victory in wet home conditions against Rainhill (142).

Joe Bamber claimed 2-10 while Magee hit a 25-ball half century before retiring.

Alan Aspey (28) and Mark Tansey (48no) clinched victory.

Saturday sees Moorfield first host Caldy with the second teams travelling to the same opposition. The Sunday team will host Wynsor Weslyans.
