HOPES are high that Nantwich Cricket Club's outstanding youth players could soon be winning trophies at senior level.

The talented U21 side recently retained the Cheshire Cup with a runaway eight-wicket victory over Wallasey at Whitehouse Lane.

The victory underlined the continuing improvement under Director of Cricket Dave Sadler.

And, as every single member of the team is young enough to defend the trophy again next year, the future looks bright.

Club spokesman Lee Prince said: 'The youth section was very healthy before Dave Sadler arrived last season, but under his tuition and organisation it is really going from strength to strength.

'The success of the U21 side really demonstrates that. They retained the trophy this season, and they were actually in the final three years ago. It all bodes well for the club and if they continue with us hopefully they will be picking up trophies for us at senior level.'

In particular, 18-year-olds Chris Simpson, Phil Stockton, Ray Doyle and Ollie Sadler have made strides this season and played a major part in the cup victory. All four have made first team appearances already and have represented the league at various age groups.

And youngster Ashley Shaw has made an impressive impact at just
