Chelford 103-7 Northwich 101 (40.2 overs)

NORTHWICH batsmen and bowlers were not disciplined enough.

As a result of playing too many poor shots and failing to keep the pressure on the Chelford batsmen they dipped below their hosts in the table.

The Chelford wicket was awful and their experienced attacked played it to full advantage. Andy Gerrard had to graft for a topscoring 23.

Too many loose deliveries let Chelford off the hook, even after Nigel Goolding had taken an early wicket. Late success by Lee Evans (4-21 off 10 overs) and Scott Heyes (2-11 off seven) did not do enough.

Northwich 2nds won a similar low-scoring game.

Barrow were bowled out for 105 when Ant Shaw was given the new ball by captain Mark O'Neil and responded by taking 6-27 off 15 overs. Matt Jamieson (2-17) finished off the innings.

Northwich made hard work of the batting and were 15-3 before Chris Yearsley (54n.o.) and Danny Ward put the innings back on track with a stand of 46.

Meller Braggins 2nd XI Knockout: Northwich 154-6 (Mark Phillips 32 Ant Shaw 37, Mike McDonough 23, Jim Kimber 27) beat Barnton 98ao (Danny Gee 24; Richard Maddock 3-9, Lee Evans 3-16) and now host Wistaston.

A Northwich 3rd team featuring 10 players under 16 went top of the Cheshire Alliance Division Five by crushing Port Sunlight.

After being 30-4 Richard Dale (26), Danny East (25), Craig Douglas (23) and Stuart Plant (29n.o.) joined in the revival and Northwich were all out for 164. Sunlight were dismissed for 85 with Mike Watson including a hat-trick in his 4-25 and Dale taking 4-0.

Alliance Knockout: Styal 2nd 170 (Mike Whitehead 6-20) Northwich 3rd 237-9 (Chris Yearsley 77, Craig Douglas 45, Richard Dale 24).
