KINGSLEY pulled off a last-ball success against Styal in Division One.

Styal batted first and Kingsley's experienced new-ball partnership of Alderman and Burden (2-28) again kept the upper Styal early order quiet until the first rain break.

The good work was continued by Andy Storey and Jonny Ollier (2-11), until further rain brought the innings to a close after 37 overs with only 95-6 on the board.

Kingsley needed 96 in 20 overs. A rearranged batting order, due to two key players being away, kept up with the run rate but wickets fell as Kieron Ollier (29) and Mark Butcher (26) had just played themselves in.

With clouds gathering for a final downpour, the fourth-wicket part-nership needed three to win from the final two balls, which soon became one ball when Owen was bowled.

New man Lenghan parried a full toss no ball to leave Burden on strike with a single to win.

The pressure once again got to North as a repeat of the previous ball meant Kingsley ran out winners by five wickets.

Chester County Officers had to settle for a draw at Sandbach.

Steve Johnson asked the hosts to bat and an early breakthrough by Andy Barlow allowed local star Da Silva to show his talent, before falling caught behind to Steve Johnson for 24.

The giant Andy Williams rode his luck to notch 53 before being caught at long-off by Ian Barlow.

With him gone, Chester took control and were able to restrict Sandbach to 157-9, with Mike Clarke (3- 32), Mike Pownall (3-29) and Steve Johnson (2-45) bowling well.

The total looked formidable but Chester's openers took the total to 27 in 10 overs before Mike Rowlands was caught for 16.

After that, a miserly spell by Shallcross set Officers right back and Tony Hattersley (10) and Ian Barlow (0) perished.

Steve Holland (7) and Mike Pownall (7) were pinned back for a long time by Shallcross and Williams, who bowled to restrict rather than take wickets.

Alastair Clark entered the crease and, with victory out of sight, took the bowling to task with a quickfire 21.

But needing 10 an over, Officers had only bonus points to play for as Steve Johnson (24) and Tony Collard (7no) took the score to 106-7 for a draw.

Bunbury beat visitors Chelford by two wickets. Chelford batted first and made 199-9, with P Weston (41), B Hough (36) and S Oliver (34) starring.

In reply, Bunbury got home with 200-8 with N Swinbank hitting 52.

G Greenup took 5-57 for Chelford.

Wistaston saw off Ellesmere Port by four wickets. Port posted 111-9 with N Brimble on 39, before Wistaston won the game with 112-6, K Thornhill top-scoring on 33.

nIn Division Two, hosts Frod-sham enjoyed a dramatic five-wicket win over Wilmslow Wayfarers.

Wilmslow posted 102-7 with A Shah hitting 57 and B Large taking 4-37 for Frodsham, who won the game with 103-5.

Shah was the backbone of the Wilmslow innings and batted well, scoring 57.

A double-change saw the introduction of Matt Williamson (2-21) and Ben Large (4-37), who worked well together to arrest the development of the Wilmslow total.

Tea was taken early and Wilmslow's innings was reduced to 30 overs, in which they made 102-7. Frodsham were allotted 24 overs and Nick Corless (9) and Matt Williamson (9) set off at a steady tempo, which kept the home side in the frame.

Gav Houghton and Ben Large then increased the rate with 36 in four overs.

The loss of Large (22) brought Geoffrey Abram to the crease and he responded well with a quick-fire 18. His departure brought Jon Lewis in to partner Gav Houghton (29no).

With Frodsham needing just 12 off the last four overs, Wilmslow deliberated over their field placements and time appeared to be running out.

Lewis (10no) blasted two boundary fours and a single. With one ball remaining and three runs needed, Houghton pushed for a certain two and sprinted to make a third, sealing a dramatic success. nSaughall enjoyed a 64-run home win over visitors Rostherne.

Saughall batted first and made 171-3 with A Thomas unbeaten on 76 and C Andrews on 60no. In reply, Rostherne were bowled out for 107 with N Hargreaves getting 32.

For Saughall, J Huxley took 3-32 and C Andrews 3-18.
