HARTFORD got off to a great start against relegated Homes Chapel, who had no hesitation in batting first but came unstuck against Brian Harkin.
He took his first victim early on and then two more in consecutive balls to turn the match Hartford's way after their hosts had threatened a decent score at 61-1.
The next wicket fell to Josh Spruce without the score being improved and, although Holmes Chapel, tried to re-group Rob Whittle picked up 4-16 in quick time. Harkin finished with 5-56.
Notoriously poor starters, Hartford viewed the deteriorating wicket with trepidation, but Whittle (47) provided a big-hitting backbone with support given by Gaz Stokes and Martin Hill.
