A SUPERB unbeaten 95 from Derek Wright put Aston on course for an emphatic 100-run win in Division One of the Cheshire Building Society Alliance at Wilmslow Wayfarers on Saturday.

With Ron Bedson (31) offering Wright support, Aston reached 183-8. Their bowlers then went to work with Abdul Monayem claiming 5-22 and Andy Leese 4-28.

Wright hit 17 boundaries but his hopes of a century ended when he was unable to gain the strike in the final over!

Sandbach fell to a 42-run setback at Castrol.

The home side posted 210-7 with M Shallcross (3-77) the pick of the Sandbach attack. C Tomlinson hit 56 in Sandbach's reply but wickets fell steadily at the other end and they were dismissed for 168.

In Division Two, Bunbury had the better of their draw with Disley. Bunbury made 156-7 with Disley making 143-7 in reply.

Audlem fell to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Glazebury. Batting first, Audlem were dismissed for just 70 and Glazebury knocked off the runs with seven wickets to spare.

Wistaston Village suffered a five-wicket defeat against Trinity. Wistaston made 107-7 but Trinity responded with a winning 110-5.

In Division Two of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League, Holmes Chapel were edged out in a high-scoring thriller at Lindow. Holmes posted a healthy total of 206-8 but Lindow scrambled to a one-wicket win with an excellent 207-9 in reply.

Cholmondeley's bowlers made light work of dismissing CH Ladybridge for 103, but their batsmen were not up to the task and were skittled for just 59.
