TATTENHALL won the only completed match in the entire Cheshire League on Saturday as the foul weather somehow skirted the Flacca for most of the afternoon.

The visitors were Division Two basement side Winnington Park and Tattenhall stamped their authority early on.

Veteran spinner Gary Forster got into the wickets thanks to a good boundary catch from Andy Morris.

Forster finished on 7-32, a fine day’s work but a lack of support from his fellow bowlers, principally skipper Rob Mulvihill and Damien Lewis, allowed Winnington Park to reach 105ao.

After tea, three early wickets set Tattenhall’s nerves jangling.

Graham Harper finally offered some resistance and, crucially, some company for Paul Kettle who was playing well at the other end.

Harper eventually spooned to point, and another mini-collapse threatened to derail Tattenhall.

Kettle’s excellent 22 ended when he was strangled down the leg side at 71-9, leaving Roy Sandford and Mel Dobson at the crease.

The charmed Dobson was dropped at mid-off twice but he grew in confidence as a result, becoming the aggressor as Sandford supported him.

Dobson finished on 25no, Sandford 7no, as Tatts claimed 20 points on a day when their promotion rivals only collected seven.

Chester Boughton Hall, rained off on Saturday, suffered defeat at Timperley in the Fred Graham Twenty20 Trophy on Sunday.

Opponents Bowdon set Hall 143-4 to chase having set about the Chester bowling well early on.

Carl Hey and Richard Wilkinson eased to 70 before Wilkinson went for 35 off Ollie Law.

Matt Griffiths took two quick wickets but Bowdon were enjoying the latter overs of the contest with wickets in hand, setting a score which seemed 20 runs over par.

In reply Hall managed only 121ao as Warren Goodwin and captain Steve Ogilby fell cheaply.

Darron Cruickshank batted sensibly for 17 before he also holed out in the deep and at 63-5 off 11 overs they were struggling. Matt Griffiths threatened with 25 and George Robinson with 18 but it was not to be.

Bowdon went on to play Alderley Edge in the final where they lost by nine wickets.
