STEVEN Sheakey's five-wicket haul plus two cheap victims for skipper Jamie Hill helped Runcorn to build on foundations laid by the belligerent Steve Ollerenshaw.

'Ollie' blitzed 73 off only 49 balls in 61 minutes to set up a declaration at 210-7 after the away side had been put in by Prestbury in Meller Braggins Cheshire League Division One.

But Julian Cheetham reciprocated by taking the visiting attack apart to score 58 in 37 minutes.

Cheetham hit five fours and four sixes in response to the six 'maximums' and seven other boundaries creamed by Ollerenshaw.

And even when Cheetham was dismissed by Sheakey at 119-4, Prestbury were in with a shout.

However, Sheakey (5-44) and Hill (2-4) ran through the tail.

The visitors finished the game with three lbw decisions to claim 25 points to Prestbury's four.

The first three wickets had been run-outs from accurate outfield throwing.

Runcorn openers Andy Booth and Jack Weston had earlier put on 68 after a delayed start.

Booth was first out for 24 while Weston went on to make 46 - his dismissal leaving the score at 84-3.

Iain Williams notched a patient 20 but Ollerenshaw was unquestionably the batting star.

He and Hill (26) added 96 runs for the sixth wicket.

Runcorn declared after 40 overs only to suffer an onslaught from the first three Prestbury batsmen.

Luke Presley made 18 and Montgomery 24 before Cheetham took centre stage. nRuncorn beat Chelford by a walkover in Sunday's Cheshire Shield first round but Frodsham were beaten by Marple.
