MOORFIELD regained top place in Division Two of the Merseyside and Southport Alliance after a fine victory at Croston.
Visiting skipper Dan Naughton elected to bat on a drying strip.
Openers Neil Maher (30) and Rob Morris (10) got off to a decent enough start but batsmen three and four fell early. The rot stopped when Mike Harrison was joined at the crease by Graeme Abbott.
The pair set about the home attack with some impressive shots.
Harrison scored 53 before being caught while Abbott was bowled on 73. A wagging tail got the total up to 232 all out (47 overs).
After tea, only opener Tim Singleton (56) showed any resistance as Croston were out for 165.
Motor Nation MoM was Moorfield bowler Ste Dean with 4-36, including a rare hat-trick.
Fellow opening bowler Mark Greason impressed with 5-45. Moorfield, who took 24 points to their opponents' six, entertain local rivals Sutton on Saturday at Moorfield Road.
Sunday saw Moorfield 1st rout Isle of Man visitors Castletown in the first round of the Lancashire Cup, a 45-overs-per-side knockout competition.
Openers Neil Maher and Rob Morris set about the Castletown attack with gusto until Rob retired on 26 with an injured arm.
Naughton (66) joined Maher (107) in setting about the Manxmen's attack.
Mike Harrison made a valuable 29 and others chipped in. Moorfield closed on 314-5 after 45 overs.
The visitors realised they had to attack from the off after the interval. Forced to take risks, only four Castletown batsmen reached double figures.
Ste Dean took 3-37 and Dan Naughton 5-21 off six as the visitors were skittled out for 97 in 78 minutes.
Moorfield travel to Daisy Hill of the Bolton League on June 12 in round two.
