A PROFITABLE weekend for Chester Boughton Hall saw them complete an impressive league win and make progress in the Cheshire Cup.

They bagged a 25-point success a Macclesfield in the Vivio County League Premier Division on Saturday.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, Chester watched Macclesfield amass a huge total of 276-6 off their 55 overs. Lee Dixon bowled with precision and accuracy for his 2-49 off 10 overs, while Jordan Clark put in a marathon stint, returning 1-88.

Chester lost early wickets in reply and at 47-3 were struggling when Warren Goodwin was removed for 32. But two key partnerships followed.

Steve Ogilby and Clark put on 115 for the fourth wicket before Ogilby went for a fine 72. Then Lee Dixon joined Clark at the crease and the pair enjoyed a fifth-wicket partnership of 87, until Clark fell for 83.

Dixon (65no) then finished the task with younger brother Ross (8no) as Chester posted 278-5.

Rode Park and Lawton came to Filkins Lane on Sunday for a Cheshire Cup second-round tie, and the holders secured a safe passage into the next round. Rode Park finished on 143 all out in 39.3 overs and Chester knocked off the required runs in 38 overs, for the loss of five wickets.
