SAUGHALL relied heavily on their bowling attack for their victory over Glazebury in Division Two.

The first match at their new Golden Jubilee Park ground, Saughall batted first and put on 159 (Adam Griffiths 30, Mandeep Singh 31, Dipak Jena 24, Mike Andrews 35no), a total which would certainly pique the interest of the visiting batsmen.

After tea the match resumed with Saughall looking to take early wickets against a buoyant Glazebury.

Saughall then set about their visitors, skittling them for a meagre 54, Dipak Jena taking 5-23, Mandeep Singh 3-12.

Home captain Chris Andrews said: “It has been a long time coming, but it is fantastic to be playing again in the village.

“The new ground looked a picture so I would like to thank everyone involved for all of their hard work. We were desperate to put in a performance worthy of the occasion and I am delighted we managed to rise to the occasion.”

At Trinity, visitors Frodsham won by three wickets. Trinity scored 141-8 before Gav Houghton scored 35 in Frodsham’s winning reply of 142-7.

In Division Three home side Capenhurst beat Offerton 2nds by 106 runs. Capenhurst scored 191-8 (C Noreen 53, C Colclough 54).

Offerton were then bowled out for 85 with A Walken taking 3-20 and M Edge 3-7.
