SAUGHALL won a thrilling match with just two balls to spare at Holmes Chapel to continue their good start to the Cheshire Alliance Division Two season.

The hosts were made to bat first but the decision appeared to backfire, with the openers piling on 81 runs.

However, the reintroduction of Mandeep Singh (2-48) reaped dividends and wickets tumbled, with Holmes Chapel all out for 185 (Dipak Jena 3-58).

Saughall’s reply started disastrously, dipping to 10-3 before a 122-run stand between Adam Griffiths (53) and Chris Andrews (77) revived them.

Jena (32no) hit the eight runs required from the final over to give Saughall (186-6) a much-deserved victory.

In Division One, FRODSHAM battled out a draw at Haslington.

The hosts won the toss and batted first, reaching 177ao. James Burton was the main wicket-taker with 75-4.

In reply, top-order runs were added by Jonathan Lewis (26), Christian Sandbach (41) and Matt Williamson (28) but then wickets began to fall. Frodsham finished up on 134-8.

CAPENHURST prop up Division Three following a heavy loss at Styal.

Batting first, the visitors were all out for 92 (A Simpkins 26). Styal then eased to 96-3 in 17.2 overs.
