OUTSTANDING all-rounder Tom Hyslop has been appointed as Tattenhall’s new captain.

The New Zealander takes over the job from Roy Sandford and his appointment reward for the performances he produced in his debut season at the Flacca.

Hyslop scored 822 runs and took 26 wickets in Cheshire County League Division Two last season.

Mark Sandford, meanwhile, is Tattenhall’s new seconds team skipper.

Focus Club status has been bestowed upon Malpas by the Cheshire Cricket Board and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

The award is the result of Malpas improving all of their playing sections but in particular their junior section.

Two years ago the Cheshire County League club did not have a single junior player on their books. Now they have more than 60 playing competitive cricket.

Malpas, whose first team will be captained by Jon Suckley this season, will host two English Cricket Association for the Deaf matches on August 5 and 6.

Joining Malpas and Tattenhall in Cheshire County League Division Two this season will be Alvanley following their Meller Braggins League Division One title victory.

Alvanley’s charge will again be led by Andy Bennion after he was re-elected as skipper. The club’s seconds and thirds team will be captained by Dave Jones and Dave Summers respectively.
